What has happened at Ynglingagatan 1? Has the gallery (finally) gone bankrupt, or burnt down, or moved somewhere else? It all seems very strange, many questions are raised and there does not appear to be a natural explanation. The Danish artist Joachim Koester stirs up and challenges art lovers' expectations by shutting up the gallery. He experiments with the traditional position and perception of the viewer. He hinders both being able to see into the gallery and entry to the white cube, thus placing the viewer in an intolerable situation. Your status is taken away - good culture consumer - a fact which questions the function of art as a social weapon. When you get over your initial irritation you may ponder over the hidden interior of the gallery. A hermetic space, which on closer examination constitutes an arena of possibilities.
