When Frenchman Philippe Parreno exhibits complete chaos prevails. The traditional borders between artist, viewer and the artwork implode to a functioning unity. No one element can function without the other. All elements are of equal importance, no hierarchies thank you! At a Parreno exhibition you could end up at a party or in a cloud factory where you can help produce leisure time. You get to meet new people and have the chance to enter new relationships or just converse, but without your neighbour's presence it wouldn't be art. It is not enough for Parreno to utilise the gallery's space - he wants your time. The differences between time space are eradicated. Time is transformed into a space where the artwork is both created, enacted and de facto exists, even when the event (exhibition) is over.
