Karen Kilimnik: ''The Sharon Tate Drawings"

Perhaps it is the contrast between Sharon Tate's innocent appearance and her terrible death in 1969, when she was murdered by members of Charles Manson's sect The Family that is so fascinating? Roman Polanski's film about the fumbling vampire hunters, ''Fearless Vampire Killers" from 1966, is the point of departure for Karen Kilimnik's exhibition at Ynglingagatan 1. Tate plays the role of Sarah who, during one of her many baths, is abducted by the vampires. In her earlier work Kilimnik has pursued an identification with celebrities and the glamour of the fashion world in absurdum. The outcome has been somewhat uncanny. The Sharon Tate project takes a slightly different direction - maybe in more than one way...
