Erla S. Haraldsdóttir: "Peep-Hole" During one of Ynglingagatan 1's Wednesday happenings earlier this year Erla S. Haraldsdóttir positioned herself in a hotel situated opposite the gallery and photographed the visitors as they arrived. The following Wednesday she exhibited these photographs as part of her own project - to the great surprise of the visitors from the week before who recognised themselves in the photographs. This uncertainty at being photographed or, to put it bluntly, being under surveillance recurs in Haraldsdóttir's first solo exhibition at Ynglingagatan 1. In "Peep opening" the roles are more complex, the visitor is also a voyeur. From being the observed s/he now becomes the observer. The situation makes for a conflict between curiosity and feelings of shame. Erla S. Haraldsdóttir graduated from Valand School of Fine Arts at Gothenburg University last Spring. | |||
