Can one escape and stay in one place at the same time? In Anna Kindgren´s installation ”Trainee Situation” one can become initiated in the mysteries of origami. This Japanese tradition is one of the repetitive, finicky and slightly monotone hobbies which at the beginning demands total concentration but after a while one does it almost automatically. It is said that s/he who folds 1 000 cranes gets to make a wish because the Gods are so happy. Transforming paper is an accolade to the defect, in that it is training in achieving something possible in the impossible we call life. Real order is to be found in chaos - strict formalised actions seem to open new horizons and depths in one´s mind. Anna Kindgren graduated from Umeå Academy of Arts spring 1997 and exhibited in September the same year the installation ”Mindmapping” at Ynglingagatan 1.
