Peter Fischli & David Weiss: "The Way Things Go"

We are being propelled towards the new millennium at ever increasing speed. The two Swiss artists Peter Fischli and David Weiss classic video "Der Lauf der Dinge" from the late 1980s provides an image of an accelerating world at the end of the century. A long line of everyday objects in a department store participate in a strange chain reaction triggered and driven by fire, water, gravitation and chemicals. The film is shown in connection with Henrik Plenge Jakobsens wall painting "Unreal", which may also be said to deal with questions about the state of things in the modern world.
