Tom Marioni (USA): "Drinking beer with friends is the highest form of art" Tom Marioni is a central name in the first generation of American concept and performance artists that emerged during the late 60s. In 1984 concept art had entered a new era and Marioni closed the Museum of Conceptual Art that he had started in San Francisco in 1970. It was in 1970 that this performance was performed for the first time and now its time for a remake at Y1. The title gives away what the performance is about. Marioni has chairs, a table and shelves for the empty bottles, he has arranged suitable lighting - all to create the conditions for a good atmosphere. Marioni participated recently in the well-received "Out of Action: Between Performance and the Object 1949-1979", an exhibition organised by MOCA in Los Angeles. This is Tom Marionis first exhibition in Scandinavia. On Friday, 18th April he will give a lecture at IASPIS. | |||
