Marcus Degerman: "New Light" Light Show at signal in Malmö (ends 2 May) is the first group exhibition of the artist group Swe.de. Replacing the lighting in one room with light bulbs borrowed from the Royal Palace in Stockholm is Markus Degerman's contribution. The scruffy room next to a former gym hall is now lit by a lights with completely different connotations. At Y1 Markus has replaced the lighting in one of the gallery's spaces with fluorescent lights from another place and vice-versa. The exhibition visitors will be exposed to subtle influence from a completely different context, by something that represents something else. Either the difference will be tangible or, perhaps, one will be able to notice changes in the people who frequent each respective place. The question is why we choose to visit certain places and in which context we want to belong. Markus Degerman graduated from Umeå Academy of Art in 1998. He exhibited "The works that gave up their complexes" the same year at Y1. More Markus Degerman at Y-1: | |||
