Peter Geschwind: ''Strange Days" 1998

Consumption society's waste products come to life in Peter Geschwind's sculptures. Previously, he has transformed a table, a broken parasol and an electric motor into a carousel complete with plaster figures that are become increasingly demolished during their crazy journey round, and round. A bottle, a bucket and 300 metres of garden hose became, at regular intervals, a vomiting figure (probably the most popular work at the 1998 Stockholm Art Fair). At first everything seems like good fun, but after a while the manic repetition begins to feel quite unpleasant. Peter Geschwind graduated from the Royal Academy of Art this Spring. During the summer he exhibited at the Centre Cultural Suedois in Paris within the framework of the Modern Museum's project room, and now he exhibits new works at Ynglingagatan 1.
