In previous works Karin Johnson has worked with different sign systems. However, these have never produced coherent meanings or information, instead they have rather done away with such tendencies. In Peep-Peep, exhibited at Ynglingagatan 1 in January, 1998, the graphic provided a foundation but the focus was shifted towards the pendulum-like movements between meaning and nonsense of perception. The question was raised about who was actually looking at what. In the current Mis-Shapes, Mistakes, Misfits Karin takes yet another step in new directions when she introduces narrative elements such as photography in the graphic structures. Other dimensions are opened and the complexity increases. Karin Johnson graduated from Umeå Art Academy in 1997.
