Robin Day 1915 Great Britain
Born in High Wycombe, Robin Day worked for a local furniture manufacture before training at the Royal College of Art, London, graduating in 1938. He and his wife, Lucienne (the renowned textile designer) opened thier own design office in 1948. In the same year, he won first prize with Clive Latimer for the design of a storage unit at The Museum of Modern Arts International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design. In 1949, he was appointed design director at Hille International and has subsequently worked as a design consultant for the company. |
